The preview of GLORY 99’s co-main event is powered by Unibet.
This saturday night, April 5, GLORY will kick-off the Last Heavyweight Standing Tournament with a stacked and action-packed fight card live from the Ahoy in Rotterdam. This event will feature 16 heavyweight bouts and will be headlined by the highly anticipated fight between Jamal Ben Saddik (37-9, 30 KO) and Cristian Ristea (44-25, 13 KO). In the co-main event of GLORY 99, veteran Brian Douwes (42-26-2, 31 KO) makes his return against the Golden Wolf Bahram Rajabzadeh (70-4, 61 KO).Â
Never a dull moment with Bahram Rajabzadeh ! The Golden Wolf is already entering his thirteenth GLORY fight and he always puts on an exciting performance. One of the most beloved and dangerous fighters in the entire roster, Bahram will once again try his hands in the Heavyweight division. A natural light-heavyweight, Rajabzadeh already ventured in the biggest weight class multiple times in GLORY notably scoring an impressive win over Tariq Osaro.Â
On April 5, he will meet one of the most experienced fighters of the tournament in Brian Douwes. With over 70 fights under his belt, The Hitman has put together a stellar resume that includes wins over Jamal Ben Saddik and GLORY Heavyweight Champion Rico Verhoeven. He has fought all over the world across his professional career and he is looking at The Last Heavyweight Standing as an opportunity to once again represent the Netherlands at the highest level.Â
He will be facing one of the most chaotic fighters in the world. Bahram Rajabzadeh is as wild and as unpredictable as it gets. His relentless pressure and stunning fighting style have made him one of the most recognized kickboxers in the entire planet. He is a berserker who loves to blitz his opponents with a variety of wild and unpredictable strikes and he proves too much to handle for a lot of his opponents.Â
Brian Douwes will have to temper the Golden Wolf and use his experience to set his own pace and counter Rajabzadeh. Bahram’s style also bears the downside of exposing him and a very accurate opponent could derail him. We’ve seen it happen against Donegi Abena last year and the blueprint to be successful against The Golden Wolf is there. As far as executing it, it’s easier said than done.Â
This fight is going to be very intense as are all of Bahram’s fights. It will be crucial for Brian Douwes to find success early notably with his leg kicks to try and contain his opponent’s aggression. If he lets Bahram be wild, he might be in for a rough night.Â
